McKINNEY, Texas – Sept. 4, 2025 – The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) announced that the McKinney Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) once again has been recognized as one of 92 economic development organizations accredited as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO). Originally accredited in February of 2022, the organization was reaccredited by IEDC following three successful years of activity as an AEDO member.
“The McKinney Economic Development Corporation displays the professionalism, commitment, and technical expertise that is deserving of this honor,” said IEDC President and CEO Nathan Ohle.
The AEDO program is a comprehensive peer review process that measures economic development organizations against commonly held standards in the profession. The program consists of two phases: a documentation review and an on-site visit. Each phase is designed to evaluate information about the structure, organization, funding, program, and staff of the candidate economic development organization.
Earning the AEDO accreditation tells the community and prospects that the MEDCattained a measure of excellence, assuring that their trust is well placed and their business is in good hands.
“McKinney’s reaccreditation reflects our city’s commitment to excellence in economic development and our focus on sustainable, long-term growth. This important recognition validates the hard work of the MEDC team and reinforces the confidence our businesses and residents place in us as we continue building a prosperous future for McKinney,” said Mayor Bill Cox.
“Achieving reaccreditation is a clear validation of our strategy to make McKinney a premier destination for business. This honor would not be possible without the strong leadership of our Board and the excellent work of our President and CEO, Michael Kowski, and his talented team, who continue to receive international recognition for innovation in economic development,” said MEDC Chairman Brian Loughmiller. “Today, we’re even more energized to pursue opportunities that will strengthen McKinney’s economy and enhance the quality of life for our community.”
Maintenance of the AEDO status is required every three years and is accomplished through documentation submission and/or on-site visits by a team of the AEDO subcommittee.
