About McKinney National Airport
For those of you that don’t know, McKinney National Airport (TKI) is a full-service general aviation resource for corporate fleets, personal aviation and hangar space. According to their website, the first flight took off in 1912, with the runway construction taking place in 1977 and then fast forward to 2013 when McKinney takes ownership and manages Fixed Base Operation, naming it McKinney Air Center and renaming the airport to McKinney National Airport.
In December 2018, the McKinney Air Center earned the 2018 Pilots’ Choice Awards by FltPlan.com for the third consecutive year.
“I’m very proud of what our employees have been able to accomplish with the Pilot’s Choice awards,” said Ken Carley, Director of the McKinney National Airport. “We are competing nationwide with some of the best FBOs in the country and to be in that top spot consistently speak volumes about the level of customer service we are dedicated to providing.”
About The New Terminal
The new terminal is coming along now and according to Carley it will have updated interior spaces, a flight-planning room, a pilot lounge, an outdoor lounge, a media room, two conference rooms, on-site car rentals, curbside luggage service, package storage, Wi-Fi and more square footage devoted to passengers and pilots. It will also have leasable office space for businesses. The terminal is said to open in the first quarter of 2020.
The new terminal is McKinney’s first public-private partnership.
“With this new terminal, I am excited to have our employees working out of a facility that will be on par with the customer service they provide,” said Carley. “Our employees are very dedicated to the customer experience and being able to give them a facility to work from that matches their devotion to serving our customers is very satisfying.”
