LEED BUILDING in McKinney

Did you know that McKinney is home to the first privately held, LEED Platinum Building in the United States?

In 2006, the McKinney Green Building was developed. It is conveniently located on Eldorado Parkway near Lake Forest Drive and has easy access to both Central Expressway and Highway 121. The office building is 53,991 square feet with office suites, an on-site fitness center that has locker rooms and showers, along with bike racks and alternative fuel stations.

What does LEED mean?

LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a green building rating system used around the world.

Every building built can have a substantial impact on the health and wellbeing of our community so it is always great to see efforts being taken to design, construct, and operate buildings at maximum efficiency.

What are the benefits of LEED?

According to U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), there are many benefits of green building, such as:

  • Healthier indoor space
  • Lower use of energy, water and other resources
  • Better for building occupants, the community and the environment

According USGBC, “2.2 million+ square feet is LEED certified every day with more than 90,000 projects using LEED.”
