Whole Foods Market is set to open its first location in McKinney, Texas, this fall, marking a significant development for the area. The new store, which will span 45,000 square feet, will serve as the anchor for West Grove, a 52-acre mixed-use development that includes 420 luxury apartments, 55,000 square feet of office space, and extensive retail amenities. The project is being developed by Dallas-based De La Vega Capital and Development, with design contributions from Gensler and GFF. The store is scheduled to open by September 22, 2025.
This expansion is part of Whole Foods’ broader strategy to open approximately 30 new stores annually, following its acquisition by Amazon in 2017. The McKinney location is expected to enhance retail options in the rapidly growing area, which has seen increased demand for amenities as more residents move north of Dallas. The development aligns with recent trends in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, where retail performance has surged, evidenced by a significant increase in retail space availability and investment activity in early 2025.
