FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
McKINNEY, Texas – The McKinney Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) today announced its investment in Body Spring, a health-technology company pioneering fascia-based movement tools for active adults. Founded by Dr. Meena McCullough, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and two-time patented inventor, Body Spring is building a new category of training methods and biofeedback devices that help people stay strong, mobile, and active well into their later decades.
Most recovery and sports-medicine programs are designed around younger bodies and tend to stop short of full recovery. That leaves a large and growing group of active adults, many in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond, without a clear path to the last 20 to 30 percent of their mobility and performance. Body Spring addresses that gap by focusing on fascia, the body-wide connective tissue that surrounds every muscle and joint and plays a central role in how the body moves and where it holds pain.
“Body Spring is exactly the kind of innovation we created the McKinney Innovation Fund to support,” said Michael Kowski, President and CEO of MEDC. “Dr. McCullough took a deeply personal challenge and turned it into a science-backed company that improves quality of life, and she’s building it right here in McKinney. That combination of real-world impact and scalable growth is what we look for in a portfolio company.”
McCullough’s path to entrepreneurship began with her own health crisis. A competitive cyclist at Texas State University, she developed sudden, unexplained pain in her mid-20s and, after years of searching for answers, was eventually diagnosed with a combination of fibromyalgia, lupus, and Lyme disease. That experience led her to earn a doctorate in physical therapy, where she discovered fascia, a concept largely absent from her formal training that became the foundation of both her own recovery and her company.
“For a long time I felt like I was living in a body decades older than I was, and no one could tell me why,” said Dr. Meena McCullough, founder of Body Spring. “I had to become my own first patient. Body Spring is the result, a way to give active adults the tools to understand their own bodies and keep doing what they love. Joining the McKinney Innovation Fund connects us to a community that believes in that mission.”
At the core of Body Spring is the patented PressEX Method, short for “Pressure Exercise,” a system that teaches users how to shift internal pressure through the body to align joints and ease pain from the inside out. Paired with the company’s fascia smart devices, which deliver real-time biofeedback as users train, the approach works much like a diagnostic and tuning tool for the human body, helping people feel and correct what is happening beneath the surface.
The method is grounded in research. In a 2024 pilot study conducted with the University of North Texas Health Science Center’s biomechanics department, Body Spring’s foot-focused PressEX protocol produced five times greater glute muscle activation than traditional movement alone, the first known measurement of how correcting foot posture influences hip strength.
Founded during the COVID-19 pandemic, Body Spring has secured more than $100,000 in non-dilutive funding, earned recognition across regional pitch competitions, and launched a kinesiology internship program with the University of North Texas at Arlington. The company’s go-to-market strategy centers on specialized, highly engaged communities, beginning with dancers and expanding to runners, with products sold directly to consumers online.
The investment in Body Spring reflects MEDC’s continued commitment to supporting high-growth, founder-led companies that solve real-world problems. Body Spring joins the McKinney Innovation Fund at a pivotal time, as the next phase of innovation in McKinney continues to take shape. In Q3 2026, the McKinney Economic Development Corporation will open the McKinney Innovation Exchange, a new physical hub located in District 121. The space will bring together founders, investors, mentors, corporate partners, and community leaders while providing a central home for entrepreneurial programming, collaboration, and business growth. As part of McKinney’s growing innovation ecosystem, Body Spring will have the opportunity to connect with this expanding network of resources, relationships, and opportunities.
